Engagement Photos in Monarch Park

Lots of mosquitos and large trees covering the evening light made the photo shoot a little difficult. But plausible.

Summer Wedding

A good friend of mine was married this weekend and I was honoured to be in his wedding party. The photographer (Brian Wiebe) was creative, energetic and had no problem with me snapping a few shots. Of course I was in the wedding party so I felt a little awkward and couldn’t blend into the background.

Waterloo Arts Festival

While KCI Arts did return to the festival for a second year, I decided not to show personal work at this year’s festival because I wanted to try something a little different. Instead I (with help from another staff member, students and alumni) ran a festival activity that had visitors painting a 16 4’ x 4’ panel mural. The mural itself was dynamic and constantly changed with every addition.

We’re hoping to show the final panels in a public space soon.

KCI Arts to Toronto

I took part in a wonderful photo opportunity with a group of 35 KCI Arts students (Grades 9-12) as we headed to Toronto for this year’s 17 hour BAA (Big Art Adventure). Our day was full and included a stop at Casa Loma, a harbourfront tour and of course a ride to the top of the CN Tower. The purpose of the BAA is to explore Canadian culture, art and environment and to use this inspiration in personal creations. Student art (photographs, digital renderings, drawings & paintings) created from this experience will be shown at this year’s Waterloo Arts Festival.

Birthday Photos

Lots of kids at a birthday party, new strobes and a white backdrop. Of course I’m going to take some pictures.

Strobes!

After playing with natural light for years I decided to explore studio lights. After playing for an hour all I can say is: “Yay studio lights!”

Designing for KCI

This fall I worked with our Principal and Admin Team and led the development and creation of new KCI presentation material. The entire package included department pages, a T-Shirt, powerpoint backgrounds and a custom folder containing 8 pull-out cards highlighting KCI’s strengths, interests and passions.

After Hours 2

KCI Arts hosts the second annual After Hours! Once again I am able to work with an incredible group of students who organize, coordinate this celebration of art, music, dance and film.

New Crest

Our admin and commencement team were interested in changing the presentation of the stage during the ceremonies. What they needed was a new rendering of the original crest that could be used to output a 15′ banner. The illustration I created seemed to work well and was also used for our new digital sign, admin documents and a new KCI flag.
