About The Artist
Jason Panda is a multi-disciplinary artist and educator whose work exists at the intersection of mathematical logic and organic creative vision. Drawing on a professional background in illustration, photography, and mixed media, Panda has developed a unique style of “organic tessellation” – a process using geometric precision to create interlocking patterns of animals and fluid forms. Holding a Joint Honours in Fine Arts and Mathematics and inspired by M.C. Escher, his work reveals the hidden patterns of connection that hold each piece together.
Beyond the studio, Panda is a prominent figure in arts leadership in the Waterloo Region. As President of the Kitchener-Waterloo Society of Artists (KWSA) and a long-time educator in the public and independent sectors, he views art as a vital tool for civic engagement. His commitment to mentorship is exemplified by the Imagine a Show project, where he used his photography expertise to provide professional exhibition opportunities for young artists. This commitment to collaboration also fueled the Belong Together initiative, which grew from a local pandemic response into a public art phenomenon, distributing over 19,000 tiles across the Region. These projects realize Panda’s core philosophy: that while every individual is a unique, organic shape, we are all essential pieces of a larger, beautiful puzzle.
Panda’s professional reach extends into commercial licensing and site-specific installations, with designs featured in products like Stumpcraft Puzzles and Nelson’s Edwin Digital Content Library. Whether through intricate illustrations, community mentorship, or large-scale murals, Jason Panda’s work remains anchored in the message that our differences are not gaps that separate us, but the very edges that allow us to connect. He lives and works in the Waterloo Region, dedicated to the idea that art is more than something we see – it is a community to which we all belong.
Jason Panda is a Graphic Artist, Photographer and Educator living and creating in Ontario, Canada. He is passionate about belonging, collaboration and connecting with art.
